The only evidence that I can find for this that Tom's body was found near George's while the bulk of Company C was found on either Finley Ridge or near Keogh.

However, a few Company C men made it to Last Stand Hill and were found there. My problem with this version of how and where Tom served at LBH is based on my knowledge what company command means to a company grade officer.

Tom had just been promoted to captain on 2 December 1875 and formally commissioned captain of Company C. His earlier command of the company was temporary until his promotion.

The command of a company is the goal of any company grade officer and this was the first time Tom's new command was going into action. I find it hard to believe that George would have deprived his beloved brother of what had to be the summit of Tom's career as a company grade officer.

I've been looking for years and have not found any convincing evidence one way or the other. If anyone knows of any please replyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5595879698501805941.post-52814735415933345832014-08-24T19:30:27.345-04:002014-08-24T19:30:27.345-04:00Benny--we are cousins (half-cousins I think). I found this on the State Historical Society of Missouri link at http://statehistoricalsocietyofmissouri.org/cdm/search/collection/gallatinnmo/order/date!title/ad/asc

I am a descendant from the 1st marriage--Thomas Jefferson Dickerson is my 2nd Great Grandfather. This order of publication lists Thomas J. Dickerson, James and Hiram Dickerson and also Mary Ann Nichols--she married a Benjamin Nichols. It also lists the children of the 2nd marriage: Martha Ann, Chas. w., Margaret, and William who I think is William Wiley. There also are two Ellis's who Marinda and Franklin (daughter and son-in-law respectively).

There are two children not listed: Joseph/Josephus and Tabitha--they died before 1872 when this was published. I also have a John Cooper from the 2nd marriage but have nothing but a possible birth date so I am not sure he is a child who died young or what.

I am very happy this has come together! He served in the union army and died in Hennesey Okl. in 1889. If you like I can send you what info I have, ( all info from the web) Thank you so much for the research you have done as it has been very helpful as I have been exploring my families past.bennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06204750030188319017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5595879698501805941.post-66642879775568468522014-04-13T08:30:21.776-04:002014-04-13T08:30:21.776-04:00Welcome to GeneaBloggers, Judith!!!
